File System Security

Hello,
I am in the evaluation process for this application and am wondering, do you offer a report that can show the secruity settings on a given directory within AD?
Many times my customers want to know who has rights to a certain directory on their file server. Is this possible to do now and if not, do you think it is something you can work on for future releases?

Thank you,
KBeau

KBeau,

Thank you for trying our tool.
We just finished working on a scheduler which will be released during next couple of days and then we switch right away to Exchange and Security reports.
Hopefully it will be available in a month or two.

Igor.

That's great news, thanks! Also, what about printer reports? Is that possible now or in future releases?

We have already a list of Printer reports we intend to include in our tool. They will be available right after Scheduler, exchange and security reports.
We have a big "todo" list and we are working hard to implement everything we want and make this tool better.

Just downloaded a trial version of the 5.8.3.1 version. Liking what I see so far, but still not seeing any sort of NTFS security reports? Am I missing it because I'm using a trial version?

Thanks,
KBeau

KBeau,
We are working on it. We will definitely have NTFS reports in our product. By the way, this product is built based on user requirements, so if you would like to see some specific reports you can always submit your request:
https://www.maxpowersoft.com/contactus.php
We will do our best to include them in our tool.
Thank You,
Igor.

Just downloaded the newest version and, yeah! NTFS reports are available! That is great!
Now, I have another question (of course!). I can run a report on a root directory, but when I run one on one of its sub-directories I get the following error in the Logger . . .Error occured loading report - Some or all identity references could not be translated.
Is this a limitation of the trial version or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks again for including NTFS reporting in your software!
Kbeau

No this is not the limitation of a trial version. We are working on it and here is what we found so far:
this can happen if the application tries to retrieve the folder / file owner information or NTAccount name.
If the existing user or group (NTAccount) account has been disabled or renamed, an IdentityNotMappedException will be thrown with the message "Some or all identity references could not be translated."

Igor.
